I’ll Praise You in This Storm

And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hind part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are you so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, what manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? (Mark 4:37-41)

Each of us is dealing with, or has dealt with stormy weather in our lives. Our storms are different, but nevertheless tumultuous and painful. Some are dealing with financial storms, while others are dealing with storms of sickness, emotional storms, relationship storms, spiritual storms, and the list could go on and on. However, no matter what the storm is in your life, listen for the still small voice of God to say, Peace, be still. The storms do not always cease immediately, but know that God is in control. If He brought you to it, He will bring you through it. Praise your way through your storm. May the Lord bless you abundantly, today and every day!

————————————————————————————————

[Lead]
I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus]
And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

[Lead]
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus]

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

[Chorus]

  1. Hi Paulette! I’m so thankful to be a subscriber/follower here now so that I don’t forget and miss out on things you offer to us!! This is a wonderful song–I love the lines “for You are who You are no matter where I am”. What a powerful line to say over and over, every day, storm or not! God bless you abundantly today, and always. love, sis Caddo

    • Hello Caddo,

I’m glad you enjoyed the song! God is whoever we need Him to be; a healer, a deliverer, a way maker, a comforter, a friend that sticketh closer than a brother, etc.! Thank God!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’m humbled that you subscribed to my blog. You are such a gifted poet/writer! By the way, I chuckled today when I thought about yesterday’s post! 🙂 May the Lord bless you and keep you, in His loving care!

  2. Amen, amen, amen! As Habakkuk said: Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine;even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren;even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, “Yet will I Rejoice in the Lord! In other words even though everything has gone wrong that can,and it looks as if it’s all over with no way out “Yet Will I Rejoice In The Lord”!! We always have a reason to rejoice,God is good and he is our way maker.! Wonderful post and song!
Love you Paulette 😀 and do have a wonderful evening.

    • Hi Pat,

  3. amen sis praise Him in the storm way too many people wait til the storm is over before they praise Him. Jesus want to know will we praise Him in the storm…If we only praise Him when the storm is over then we don’t really know how good He really is until you can praise Him in the storm

    • Amen, and amen! Thank you so much for that message! It’s true, that if we never had a problem, we would never know that God could solve them. We would not know what faith in God can do! Through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus. I’ve learned to depend upon His word! Praise God! Thank you so much for sharing! May the Lord continue to bless you, richly!

  4. Jesus want us to praise Him in the storm if we only praise Him when the storm is over then how will a person ever know how good the Lord is..I gotta praise Him while in the storm it’s the only thing that keeps my mind off of my emotions. AMEN

    • Hello Minister Desiray,

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us! It’s always easy to praise God when everything is coming up roses, but when the storms of life begin to rage, giving praise unto God doesn’t flow as easily. However, like you, it is my relationship, my time spent in His presence, that is carrying me through the storm right now! Praise God! I’ve got to praise Him, without a doubt! God bless you, as you give Him praise in the storm!

I listened to your show today, from the archived messages. Great job! 🙂

  5. Once again you have put up a great post. This is a subject I have spoke on many times in my blog. Thanks for sharing. Please keep up the great work you are doing here. I am going to re-post this on my blog so that more people can see it and understand what great meaning it has in all our love.

  6. Lord, I’ll praise you in this storm and every storm that I face. You have the solution to every problem and the answer to every question.

Thank you very much Minister Paulette, for ministering to me through this post. God bless you.

    • God bless you, Noel! I’m so glad you were encouraged by what was shared. To God be the glory!

“Lord, I’ll praise you in this storm and every storm that I face. You have the solution to every problem and the answer to every question.” Amen!

  7. I love that song, and this post, and you, our praise and worship leader! Thank you for leading us today, to lift His name, while the storms are still happening. You have a precious gift, a testimony and witness in doing this. God bless you as you praise Him today. love and prayers!

    • Hello Encouraging Debbie,

You have touched my heart, once again! 🙂 It’s so wonderful to know, that the Lord will not allow the fierce winds and waves to overtake us, because He is right there riding out the storm with us! Praise God! What a mighty God we serve! God bless you, as you lift His name high! Love and prayers!

    • Hi Encouraging Debbie,

When you have a moment, would you please check your spam. You’ll probably find a comment or two from me there. 🙂 While I have not been able to figure out how to prevent this from occurring, Ann figured out, that once a comment has been found in spam and approved by the blog owner, that clears the way for me to comment without a problem. It seems that I am being treated like a “new commenter” on most blogs which I frequent. Thank you much! 🙂 God bless!

(To my other blogging friends, I believe this has occurred on some of your blogs, as well. Sorry about any inconvenience this may cause.)

  8. Thank you, Minister Paulette,

This is a great source of encouragement for those days when I feel like my boat will capsize any minute now. Thanks again for sharing.

    “And every tear I’ve cried
    You hold in Your hand
    You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm”
He sees the tears, He knows my pain … and He is still there with me. Them crashing waves often try to drown out His voice but if I listen loudly enough I can hear His reassuring voice. He will never leave me! The storms howl sometimes and tosses me to and fro, but He reminds me that the One who created the storm is right there with me, therefore there is no need to fear.

Thank you for the reminder. The storm may last all night but it cannot last forever. On the other hand, He says He will never leave nor forsake me… I will praise Him as I go through this storm.

No storm catches Him by surprise … I will let Him lead.

    Blessings
    ann

    • Ann,

I was richly blessed and encouraged by the message the Lord gave you to share here! I felt the anointing of the Holy Spirit, as I read it! Thanks for allowing Him to use you!

“Them crashing waves often try to drown out His voice but if I listen loudly enough I can hear His reassuring voice. He will never leave me!” Amen, and amen! God bless you, as you praise Him in the storm!

      • Minister,

This piece has been living in my head. Here’s another song for you …

“when the load of life gets heavy and the weight shows on your brow
There’s a sweet relief in knowing the Lord will make a way somehow!”

  9. AMEN! You made me think of when Peter said to Jesus out on the water, “If it be you, bid me to come.” No matter what the conditions, though water is NOT solid, nor stable, and should not be fit for walking upon, as long as Peter’s focus was on Christ, he was fine. The same goes for us, if we can focus on Christ above and beyond our circumstances, THEN there will be peace in the midst of the storm. We cannot truly praise Him in the storm if we lose sight of Him while we are in the storm. We must always remember that He is still the same Jesus that commanded the wind and the seas and they obeyed Him. There are no conditions that may come that have power above what He allows. Satan himself cannot do any more than he is permitted to do! When we remember that we serve the greatest power and the ONLY true and living God, the storms become minuscule by comparison! What can stand before God and still appear to be great? He dwarfs the mountains! The Earth is but His footstool! How great is our God?

    • What a word! “We cannot truly praise Him in the storm if we lose sight of Him while we are in the storm.” So true! Lord, help me to keep my eyes on you!

“When we remember that we serve the greatest power and the ONLY true and living God, the storms become minuscule by comparison!” Powerful! Thanks so much for sharing this encouraging word! God bless you!

  10. I think of the words of a song I haven’t heard for many years: “The God of the mountain is still the God of the valley”
It is easy to trust and praise God when everything is going well, but when the tough times come, our faith is tested. I thank God for those tough times, because we can ALWAYS look back on them and see how the Lord overcame the obstacles and used the experience to “grow” us.
If we didn’t have the ‘valley’ experiences we wouldn’t appreciate the ‘mountain top’ experiences – and they allow us to appreciate the ‘valley’ experiences. So we praise God for the circle of our experience!

    What an amazing God!

    • Hi Angela,

Thank you so much for sharing this power packed message! “If we didn’t have the ‘valley’ experiences we wouldn’t appreciate the ‘mountain top’ experiences – and they allow us to appreciate the ‘valley’ experiences. So we praise God for the circle of our experience!” This summed up the entirety of your comment beautifully! God bless you, and may heaven smile upon you!

    • Hi Florence,

How are you coming along? I apologize for taking so long to respond to your comment. I really do care. I’m so glad you benefited from what was posted here. Thinking of you. God bless you!
