Chronic Pain

Pain takes a physical, financial and emotional toll on those who have pain and their family members and friends. Understanding the various aspects of living with pain — what causes it, what treatments are available for managing it, how to cope and find the support you need — are vital to your health. Those who live with pain can learn more to help make informed decisions  and self advocate for appropriate and effective pain care. Health care providers can participate in medical educational activities developed with top pain experts and the voice of people living with pain. (Pain Foundation.org)
September is pain awareness month. For those who live with chronic pain, we know all too well the devastating effects of suffering from a chronically painful syndrome, disease, or illness. Suffering from a chronically painful disorder can literally change one’s life for ever, in an instant. The American Pain Foundation is an organization which educates, supports, and advocates for people whose lives are affected, and in many instances controlled by pain. I receive a monthly newsletter from this organization. I have found it to be a wealth of information for those who suffer from chronic pain, for caregivers and family members, and for the medical professionals who specialize in treating chronic pain disorders. The links provided in this post will give more information about suffering from chronic pain, and the American Pain Foundation. The title of the video is, “The Mystery of Chronic Pain.” The speaker talks about the mechanism of pain in great detail. It was quite informative. Hopefully, the information provided will prove to be helpful to chronic pain sufferers, and to those who have loved ones who suffer from chronic pain. May the Lord bless you abundantly, today and every day!

    • You’re welcome Debbie. I always appreciate your words of kindness! If I can help someone who is suffering from chronic pain, or those who have loved ones who are suffering, then my writing these posts will not have been in vain. I’m so glad I can offer hope, to those who are struggling with this enigma.

  2. Hi Paulette
This is a really good post,I think we touched on this one a little yesterday, about how we can look good but be crying on the inside because of the pain. And I want to add:Depression is a strong part of the chronic pain we suffer through. Some days in spite of the medication depression comes on strong and will linger for days. Thank God for Jesus, for surely without His help I would not have made it this far,and today is one of my down days my body is full of pain! I really don’t know what to rub!!! Humor is so good for us,I love you Paulette and I’m so glad we are friends. 😀 😀

    • Hi Pat,

Many who suffer from chronic pain, have become very adept at masking the pain. As you said, “We can look good but be crying on the inside, because of the pain.” Depression is a symptom of chronic pain. The effects of the depression can be as devastating as the chronic pain! I can relate to those days when the depression “comes on strong and will linger for days.” Thankfully, God’s grace is sufficient for me, and His strength is made perfect in weakness!

I’m sorry today is a down day for you, and I pray you’ll be feeling much better soon! I love you too, Pat. I value your friendship, and I thank you for the laughs, on my down days! 🙂 You too are a true sister in the Lord! God bless!

    • i suffer terrible arthritis in my shoulder and back, I don’t like to take too much medication or use chemical enhanced products believing they only create more problems down the track. i have found a wonderful product called NATURAL HARMONY it is made with all natural products including essential oils and natural mineral salts, it is Australian Made and non greasy so it’s great before bed and under my clothes, on the bad days it may not eliminate the pain however it takes the real harshness off reducing my pain from say a 8-9 down to a 2-4, i’m also told some people use it on their pets who suffer arthritis also, I have found the more I use it the better it works, any way hope this helps you like it has helped me and believe thousands of others, oh their web site http://www.florentinegold.com.au
