The Saving Name

jesus-name-wallpaper-11That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10). Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins (Acts 2:43). And whatsoever he do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him (Colossians 3:17).

To quote Shakespeare, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” This quote may be true for every other name in the world! However, it doesn’t apply to the name of Jesus! The name of Jesus stands alone! When you call on the name of Jesus, things in the atmosphere shift! Circumstances change! People change! Demons tremble! Satan flees! The sick are healed, the lame walk, storms cease, and the captives are set free! The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runneth in and are safe. The Greek word for power is “Dunamis”, which can also be interpreted to mean, “Dynamite.” Now, that is a whole lot of power! The name of Jesus is so great, that at that name, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord! “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! There is something about that name! Master, Savior, Jesus, like a fragrance after the rain. Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away, but there is something about that name!” We are justified by the name of Jesus! “Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” (I Corinthians 6:10-11).

The Word of God tells us to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus; “Preaching the word of Christ, in singing spiritual songs and hymns, in prayer, in conversation with each other or in whatsoever action, civil or religious throughout the whole of life and conversation, in the performance of things natural, moral, relating to man, and in the world or the church.” The encounter of Peter and John, with the lame man who was laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, comes to mind here. There, the man asked alms, of all who entered the temple. Peter fastening his eyes upon him with John said, “Look on us.” Then Peter going forth in the authority and power of the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God said, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him up by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. The man leapt to his feet, walked, and entered the temple with Peter and John. All the while, he was leaping and praising God! All who recognized this man, were filled with amazement at that which had happened unto him. (Read Acts 3:1-11) We must go forth in the authority and power, that is in the name of Jesus Christ, and by the Spirit of our God! Jesus is Lord, Emmanuel, the Son of God, the Son of Man, the Anointed One, the Prince of Peace, the Messiah, the Word, Alpha and Omega, Savior, the Mighty God, and the Light of the World, but the saving name of our Lord, is Jesus! Neither is there salvation in any other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved! Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there is something about that name! Be blessed by the song, “There Is a Name.” May the Lord bless you abundantly, today and every day!
