A Present Help

1.God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2.Therefore will not we fear, and though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3.Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. 4.There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. 5.God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early (Psalm 46:1-5).

SOS1SOS, the commonly used description for the International Morse Code distress signal, “is an internationally recognized means of obtaining help. A distress signal indicates that a person or group of people, ship, aircraft, or other vehicle is threatened by grave and imminent danger and requests immediate assistance. In the event of a catastrophe or a natural disaster, when help is summoned, help is not always immediate! The waiting period can be somewhat disarming, alarming, and terrifying! When we find ourselves facing imminent danger, we can send out a "spiritual SOS" by calling on the name JESUS! We have an ever present helper in times of trouble, trials, and tribulations. God is our refuge and strength! He is a very present help in trouble. When we call, He will answer! He is our hero! When our backs are against the wall, we can call upon the name of the LORD! Proverbs 18:10 tells us, "The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." We can rely upon His power, His faithfulness, His mercy, and His grace! He sets us in a high place, out of danger. When we are faced with trepidation, II Timothy 1:7 says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” SOS! “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

In the book of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, and set it up in the province of Babylon. The king commanded  all to fall down and worship the golden image, at the time when various instruments were heard. Now Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, devout Jews,  were among the rulers of the provinces of Babylon. It was decreed, that all who did not fall down and worship the golden image, were to be cast in the midst of the burning fiery furnace. When the king learned that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, disregarded his decree, he commanded that one furnace be heated seven times more than was usual. The most mighty men in the king’s army were commanded to bind and cast them  into the burning fiery furnace. SOS! Because the furnace was so hot, those who cast them into the flames were slain by the fire! Afterward, the king was astonished, fiery-furnace1and rose up in haste, and spake, saying, "Did not we cast three men into the midst of the fire? Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."  Neither did their garments smell of fire. At this sight, the King said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent His angel, and delivered His servants that trusted in Him, and have changed the king’s words, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God! (Read Daniel 3:1-28) What a mighty deliverance! Surely, God was a very present help in trouble! The Word of God says, "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed." When it seems as if the weight of the world is on our shoulders, and there doesn’t appear to be a way out of the dilemmas we are  facing, in the midst of  those storms, God will give us peace that passeth all understanding! When you find yourself going through fiery trials, the LORD is your present help! When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can even ask or think! When you feel like you are going through the refiner’s fire, God is right there with you in the fire, and He will bring you out, and that with a mighty hand. You will come out of the fire, and you will  not smell of smoke. Not one hair on your head will be singed! Praise God! "In all manner of troubles, God shows speedy mercy and power in defending His children. We are assured that God can and will defend His children from all dangers and enemies." So, no matter what type of trouble you find yourself in; spiritual, health, financial, family, etc., our God is a very present help in your times of trouble! SOS! Call on the name of the LORD! God bless you abundantly, today and every day!

Hello friends. The featured song by the Gospel Artist of the Week, is titled, “The Greatest Exchange.” This song tells the message of salvation, so beautifully. It tells of the greatest exchange, you could ever experience! Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, sacrificed His life, that we might be saved! The Righteous, for the unrighteous; the Holy for the unholy, the Sinless, for a sinner like me; the Worthy, for the unworthy, the Perfect for the imperfect, etc. You will be blessed.

  3. “Our ever present Help” – NO ONE ELSE could ever be “ever present”. Only GOD is ALWAYS available and always willing and ready to help, and always victorious.

  6. Thank you, Minister Paulette 🙂

“So, no matter what type of trouble you find yourself in; spiritual, health, financial, family, etc., our God is a very present help in your times of trouble! ”

Minister P … you have no idea what you have done. (Thanks for being obedient but my toe hurts!!) We truly don’t go hunting for trouble all the time but sometimes it finds us and we waste precious resources trying to escape it when all we need to do is run to the Rock, the Present Help, the Protector!! He’s there… He is going nowhere. He’s waiting for us to seek Him out. Way cool!!

Thank you for this beautiful timely reminder!!!!

God bless you over and over and over again!!

    Running to Him,
