Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the King, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, where is He that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East, and are come to worship Him (Matthew 2:1-2). A star is: any of the heavenly bodies, except the moon, appearing as fixed luminous points in the sky, at night. We, the believers, are the lights of the world! We are those cities, which are set upon a hill, that cannot be hid. We should be as the star, that led the wise men to Jesus. Our lights should shine so brightly, that sinners are drawn to us, desiring to know what they must do to be saved! The light of the Lord that shineh through us, should eradicate the darkness of this world, that is all around us. Matthew 4:16-17 says, “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death, life is sprung up. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Today, we should be those beautiful lights, that are telling everybody, about somebody, who can save anybody! Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven!” Upon entering a room, do you light up the room, because the glory, or resplendent beauty and magnificence of the Lord, is upon you? So many homes are adorned beautifully with elaborate lighting displays. Each time you enter a store, your eyes are captivated by the beauty of the season! Such a beautiful outward show! It brings to mind, the Pharisees. They wanted to have an appearance, or an outward show of righteousness. Matthew 23:27-28 says, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye are like white sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.” It is up to the Christians, the true believers in Jesus Christ, to illuminate the world with the light of the Lord that shineth within us! Psalms 149:4-5 says, “For the LORD taketh pleasure in His people: He will beautify the meet with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.”
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:8-11) Let your light shine brightly, and tell of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! God bless!
