Romans 12:1-3 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
When we enter the sanctuary, no longer are there animals placed on an altar to be sacrificed as in the Old Testament times, but we are to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto the Lord. Yes, we are in this world, but we are not to be of this world. Romans 6:11-13 says, Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. We must give God what He wants. We are to give God our time and our talents, as well as give Him the sacrifice of praise, the fruit of our lips giving thanks unto His name. We are to give God our everything! We must not be conformed to this world. Instead, we must be transformed by the renewing of our minds. There must be a recognizable difference between the body of Christ, and those that have not yet been redeemed by the precious blood of the Lamb. We are ambassadors for Jesus Christ. For some, the most life-changing sermon an individual will be exposed to, is the life I/you live before them. We must separate ourselves from the things of the world. If we are going to talk the talk, we must also walk the walk. As the Word of God says, Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing. We must strive to live a life which is holy and acceptable unto the Lord. We are to be holy, because our God is holy. The Word says, Like as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye also holy in all manner of conversation, because it is written, be ye holy, for I am holy. HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD! I’m struck by the word renew. When we have a book from the library it has a return date. The option to have that book in my home is over and I must go into the library and check it out again. I am challenged here to get into the ‘library’ of God and check it out. Take His Words into my heart. But I have to get into the word to make it my own. How often do I renew the words from God’s library in my own heart/home? Not often enough.

Thank you so much for visiting! I thank you for your candor and transparency, when expressing your thoughts.
“… but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” The word RENEW can be defined as “to regenerate anew, or to take up where one left off.” When we are transformed by the renewing of our minds, we are renouncing the things of this world, and we are turning to a lifestyle which is pleasing unto God, and aligned with His Word. We have purposed in our hearts to be in relationship with our Savior. This is a transformation that occurs because of our minds being changed, regenerated, or re-created.
It’s a temporary thing when you take a library book out for a few weeks, and then return it to the library in order to renew it. That is more in line with the definition of the word RENEW, which is to take up where one left off. However, we are to continuously live a transformed life, or a regenerated life in Christ Jesus.

Thank you! Your post has helped me see something that had taken me by surprise somewhat. Can’t even describe exactly how I felt. I have just started FB and twitter. Thought God was asking me to, even though I hadn’t a clue what to do there. I “friended” a few family and friends that I kind of know, but not too much, because I’m so isolated here. ha! Just reading some of the things there made me realize how . . .different . . .I am. And I wasn’t sure that was a good thing. But then i read this and feel His comfort in it and know it’s okay that I am different. 🙂

This point hits home every time I hear it. What a responsibility!! What do we have to lose by living His love? Nothing worthwhile, I would venture. The possibility of living so that others see Him in me keeps me humbled and excited at the same time. Praying we will be the ambassadors you described.

This is a solid word. And right on time. It is so important that we understand that we are always being “formed.” The real question is are we being formed into Christlikeness or are we being formed to the world. As you have stated so poignantly in this post we must choose to be formed into Christlikeness. The only way we can do that is not by “trying” to be holy but by focusing our minds on Christ and taking the time to hear his voice and to study his word and allow him to heal us where we are not whole. Then our minds are renewed and we become more and more formed into his image and into holiness. What a relief that we don’t have to do it on our own!

Yes, God is so good! I’m so glad, that I’m filled with the Holy Spirit! It is the Holy Spirit that leads us, and guides us into all truth and righteousness! Praise the Lord! When we have been filled with the Holy Spirit, we have the power to resist temptation. We are empowered to walk after the spirit, and not after the flesh. We are unable to live holy on our own. Praise God for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit! The word of God says, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit saith the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6) Amen!
